Lake Aeration & Fountains

Aeration and circulation are excellent ways of improving water quality in a lake or pond. Most nuisance aquatic vegetation thrives in stagnant waters with high levels of nutrients and low dissolved oxygen levels. These waters also generally have large amounts of organic debris on the lake bottom. Proper design, installation, and usage of aeration systems can directly help remedy these problems. We provide custom services to meet your needs. We have designed and installed numerous systems, big and small. We are your aeration specialists.

There are two main types of aeration equipment in use today for lakes and ponds; floating display aerators (fountains), and bottom diffusers. When chosen, planned, and installed correctly, both systems are capable of providing adequate aeration and circulation in most waters. Floating systems pump water and provide a visual display above the surface. Their spray patterns are attractive, create a pleasing falling water sound, and can be dressed up with lights for a striking nighttime display. Bottom diffusers pump air and emit large amounts of tiny bubbles from the bottom of the lake via an air compressor mounted on shore, creating a surface boil above the diffuser heads.

For bottom diffuser systems, we recommend Vertex Water Features (www.vertexwaterfeatures.com) and Keeton Industries (http://keetonaquatics.com/). Shore mounted quiet-running compressors pump air through self-weighted tubing into lake bottom diffuser heads. These systems are energy efficient, require little maintenance, last a long time, and provide aeration and circulation for an economical price. For those wanting to go “off the grid” or are in need of aeration in more remote areas, solar powered units are available. We have also put in windmill aerators from Outdoor Water Solutions (http://www.outdoorwatersolutions.com/).

For floating display aerators or fountains, we recommend those manufactured by Aqua Control, Inc. (www.aquacontrol.com). Their vertical configuration units draw in water well below the surface, even extending several feet towards the bottom of the lake. This adds the benefit of breaking up stratification and providing circulation, bottom to top. Horizontal motor mount configurations can operate in shallow waters. Units range in size from ½ to 40 Horsepower. They also have bowl fountains, waterfall pumps, and other specialty equipment.
